Dare to try this tempting Oreo caramel fault-line cake - recipe by Nikitha

Cookie or Cake? Well, why not both? This infamous recipe by the passionate baker-chef, Nikitha JR, is a tempting combination of flavours and an impossible treat to resist!

Recipe -


For caramel frosting-

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 2 tsp butter

For the cake-

  • 300 g soft butter

  • 300 g soft brown sugar

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 2 cups self-raising flour

  • pinch of salt

2 packets of Oreo


Caramel frosting-

  • Melt the sugar

  • Add the butter and then the cream

  • Bring the mixture to boil and keep it aside.

The cake-

  • Pre-heat your oven at 180 C

  • In a large bowl, beat together the butter, sugar, and vanilla until pale or fluffy

  • Add the eggs and the egg yolk, while beating thoroughly

  • Then add the flour and salt

  • Gently mix until you have a smooth cake batter

  • Divide the cake batter between the two prepared tins, greasing the tops

  • Bake for 30-40 minutes

  • Use a fork to see if the cake is baked clean

  • Allow to cool in the tins for 15-20 minutes

Faultline assembling-

  • Use a sharp knife to half the cake into layers and then set aside

  • Once the cakes are cool, you can begin the assemble

  • Placing one cake layer onto a plate, spread the caramel frosting layer on top

  • Gently place the Oreos on top

  • Place another layer of cake and repeat the process

  • You can get creative on the top layer and further decorate with whipped cream between the Oreos
